BURNLEY'S bid to extend North East Lancashire's highly successful Enterprise Zone was snubbed by the Government. Environment Minister John Patten put the proposal on hold, and said that no useful purpose would be served by meeting MP Peter Pike to discuss the decision.
Cases of child abuse in Lancashire were soaring, with fears that the number of children involved in cases of sexual abuse alone could top 100 for the year.
