ADRIAN Heath today fired an early warning to his Clarets charges after Walsall were forced into an FA Cup replay at fortress Turf Moor - 'Don't think that we'll have it easy.'

Heath was keen to stress that the job is only half completed after Kyle Lightbourne's late equaliser denied Burnley direct entry into tonight's third round draw.

Burnley's home record combined with Walsall's woeful away form means that the Clarets will be cast in the role of favourites when the sides meet again tomorrow week.

But Burnley fans will be aware that Walsall dashed their Cup hopes last season with a 3-1 victory at Turf Moor and Heath wants to ensure that nothing is taken for granted.

"We would probably have settled for it (a draw) away from home in a cup tie before the game especially as they're playing well at home, getting a few results of late," he said.

"It's up to us now when we take them back to Turf Moor but the most important thing is that we don't underestimate them.

"How many times has that happened?

"People think, 'Oh we've done the hard work,' and then you go and get turned over at home.

"I don't want that to happen next week. "But we can put that to bed now for a week or so with Hartlepool tomorrow night and a clash with the league leaders (Brentford) next Saturday."

David Eyres' spectacular 55th minute goal gave Burnley the lead at Bescot Stadium.

But it was the defence that Heath singled out for particular praise even though he was disappointed that nobody followed up Marlon Beresford's late penalty save to prevent Kyle Lightbourne from reaching the rebound.

"That was probably the strongest part of our game today - we defended really well," said Heath.

"They had a couple of chances but I didn't think we were unduly worried.

"We coped with their front men very well.

"I thought we didn't play well overall on Saturday, certainly the first half we were lacklustre.

"But by the law of averages we've been due a performance a little below par.

"I'm delighted, however, to still be in the Cup. I said all last week that the most important thing was, come a quarter to five on Saturday, we had still to be in the FA Cup and we are. "It would have been lovely to have gone through and got rid of another game but unfortunately it doesn't work like that."

"I'm pleased we're still in the Cup, disappointed it was so late their goal, most disappointed because the keeper who's probably got the best record in football at the minute for saving penalties, we haven't believed in him.

"And they've followed it up and pinched the goal.

"But, in hindsight, they probably deserved the draw."

Although the performance was not up to scratch, Burnley's ability to force a result against a side who are playing well at home was pleasing to Heath. "The way we're playing at the moment certainly makes it a little bit more bearable on the touchline," he added.

"I'm more confident before we go out now of what to expect from our players.

"Although we haven't played particularly well, I think it's a sign of how we've improved that we came away with a result.

"I can think back to seven or eight months ago when if we didn't play 100 per cent we used to lose every week.

"Once again we've gone away from home and only conceded a goal.

"We've always got a chance in games when we aren't conceding too many."

The draw for the FA Cup third round is on BBC2 tonight at 10.15pm and can also be heard on Radio 5 Live.
