DANIEL Thwaites has given more than 1,000 licensees and free trade customers a pre-Christmas bonus.
The Blackburn-based firm passed on the 26p budget duty reduction on spirits. The company is absorbing the extra costs from existing stocks to give immediate savings to pubs, clubs and other outlets it supplies.
All spirits and liqueurs supplied by its drinks division, James Pickup and Co, were supplied at the new rates from last week.
Sales and marketing director Paul Winter said: "We have decided to act very quickly, even on current stock, to enable customers to make an immediate and significant saving."
Thwaites says it hopes the decision will give licensees an extra Christmas bonus during a period which traditionally witnesses a boom in spirits and liqueur sales.
