NORWEB staff were being given self-defence lessons to help combat rising incidences of assault during the course of their work.

An increasing number of attacks on staff prompted management to call in a 'streetwise' agency to instruct employees in the art of avoiding conflict, prompted by incidents such as a meter-fixer being chased out of a house by a man brandishing a sword and another having a smoke bomb thrown in his van.
