SCOTTISH Premier League side Heart of Midlothian are poised to make a bid for Burnley's unsettled striker Kurt Nogan.

Nogan made an instant impression on Hearts boss Jim Jefferies yesterday when the unsettled striker rattled in FIVE goals in his first Tynecastle training session. Early reports in Edinburgh suggest Hearts could move before the weekend, but Nogan is due to link up again with Burnley on Thursday at the end of his short trial.

Speaking exclusively to the Lancashire Evening Telegraph from his Edinburgh hotel this morning Nogan said: "It is too early to say whether anything permanent will be sorted out but I'm very impressed with the set-up at Hearts. They are a big club with plenty of quality players.

"Jeremy Goss is up here and I know him from the Welsh squad.

"If Hearts are 100 per cent interested in signing me and Burnley want to do business then maybe something can be sorted out. "It's a change of environment for me and I think I've needed that. At the moment I'm due to return to Burnley the day after tomorrow. I will just continue to train hard and see what develops."

Meanwhile, Burnley turn their sights on tonight's tricky second round Auto Windscreens Shield tie against Stockport County at Turf Moor (7.45pm).

Heath will definitely be without winger Glen Little (broken toe) and defender Gerry Harrison (ankle).

But Heath today hinted that he may make at least one change against the Coca-Cola Cup semi-finalists with midfielder Steve Thompson expected to return.

The Burnley chief said: "I'm considering the odd change for what is a very important match for us. We've had some rare battles over the years with Stockport and tonight will be no different.

"I've said all along that I want to go to Wembley in this tournament and I think we've a good chance of progressing tonight."
