THE derelict site of a former foundry in Clitheroe looks set to be sold.
Castle Castings Ltd has confirmed it is selling the three-acre site off Waterloo Road.
Company director Jerome Lawrenson would not confirm when the sale would be complete or who the buyer was.
The site opposite Tesco supermarket was the focus of planning permission to build a petrol station last year.
However, it was turned down when residents complained that it would increase traffic problems.
The site, which has remained derelict since the factory was demolished three years ago, has no planning permission.
Under Ribble Valley's local plan, due to be adopted by the authority this year, the site can only be used for residential use.
The factory was demolished after the recession forced the company to move to a smaller site.
Tougher environmental laws also made it increasingly difficult for the company to operate in the town centre location.
