VOLUNTEERS are needed to take the plunge and raise funds for the BT Swimathon '97.

Fulwood Leisure Centre on Black Bull Lane is looking for 100 people to get fit, have fun and take part in the swimming spectacular from March 17 to 23.

Leisure centre spokesman Debbie Lumb said: "We need your help to raise £1.5 million for the Prince's Trust and other associated causes.

"We are holding six sessions at the pool this year and those wishing to tackle the 5,000 distance can do it on their own or in a team of up to five people.

"Or if you prefer, join our Happy Hour session and swim a chosen distance in 60 minutes."

Every entrant will receive a swimming cap and certificate and those completing 5,000m receive a special medal. For information contact Debbie Lumb on 716085.
