EVELYN County Primary School in Prescot has received special recognition from OFSTED, the Government education watchdog.
The school in Evelyn Avenue, one of just seven Merseyside schools commended for high standards, received special mention in OFSTED's annual report which commented on 82 primary schools nationwide.
Peter Wylie, director of education for Knowsley, said: "This latest news is very encouraging for the school and all those people involved with it. In Knowsley we are committed to raising attainment levels in all aspects of the curriculum throughout our schools and this recent accolade suggests that we are on the right track.
"Knowsley has never had a school fail an OFSTED inspection and over the last two or three years many of our schools have been shown to be making significant improvements."
