COACH Ivor Tattum has discovered the magical recipe for success.
And his formula has brought a host of honours for his pupils.
Now Ivor's know-how has been recognised at the highest level.
For he's been named coach of the year by the Amateur Swimming Association.
Ivor who coaches at the St Helens Council's Parr Community Swimming pool, works Pilkingtons Glass and has been coaching for 20 years, founding the St Helens Swim Training Scheme 10 years ago.
During the last 12 months he coached Helen Billington to national and international level. Helen has been included in the Great Britain squad on a number of occasions competing in the Olympic trials for Atlanta.
Helen Don-Duncan at 15 is the national and European champion and the Great Britain junior record holder at 200 metres backstroke. She is also included in both the Great Britain junior and senior team.
Another swimmer, Sarah Healey, has recently been included in the England junior team at the 200 metres butterfly. Out of his squad of 20 swimmers Ivor has three national champions, two of whom represent England and Great Britain. He also has another four swimmers who qualified for the National Age Group competitions.
