THE Women's Outreach Service in St Helens and Knowsley, which offers support and advice to women with alcohol-related problems, has received a boost of £2,000 from BNFL.

The service is run by Merseyside and Cheshire Alcohol Service which can provide counselling at a number of Outreach points or, if appropriate, in the privacy of a client's home.

Cathy Morris, who runs the projects, explains: "Our work varies from talking quite generally to women's groups about alcohol awareness to providing one-to-one support for individuals whose lives have been affected by alcohol-related problems. We are delighted with the support from BNFL which will enable us to help even more people across Merseyside."

BNFL has provided support to MCAS over the past two years as part of its programme of 'Energetic Support in the Community.' According to community affairs co-ordinator Pauline Deams, the work done by MCAS is invaluable to families across Merseyside and Cheshire: "We employ some 14,000 people in the North West and are delighted to support the work of MCAS. The counselling and support service is invaluable to families across the region and we are proud to be associated with this project."

AT present the Women's Outreach Service is available in the St Helens and Knowsley areas. If you would like to know more about the work of MCAS or the Women's Outreach Service, you can contact the centre on 0151 707 1221.
