RESIDENTS have succeeded in getting councillors to agree to block a road to lorries before someone is killed.
Sara Hilton, a resident in the Thursby Road area of Burnley, appealed to planners to stop heavy goods vehicles delivering to a mill on Abinger Street from using a narrow access from Salus Street.
She said: "Our concern is the threat to life because of the increase in use of the loading bay by the owners of Coronation Mill.
"We feel the only solution is to close Abinger Street at the junction of Salus Street before someone is killed.
Coun Les Harrison said: "The owner has the wrong attitude for a person running a business to have.
"The sooner we enforce the rules and make him obey the better."
The legal process to block the road will be started once the recommendation from the planning and environment committee has been agreed at council.
