BLACKBURN Rovers are considering legal action over an article in Private Eye.
The story claims Rovers are "famous throughout Europe as the only all-white English Premiership side" and that they have not fielded a black player in a first-team home game since Jack Walker took control.
And it also says it was rumoured at the time Terry Venables turned down Rovers' offer of the manager's job that he had done so because they had denied his request to sign Trevor Sinclair, a black player.
Venables denied it, but the rumour - however unfounded - provoked a deluge of approving messages to a site on the Internet run by a Rovers supporter.
But Ewood chairman Robert Coar said today: "We are aware of the article and we have consulted our solicitors.
"The contents of the article are inaccurate and completely unjustified."
Rovers can back up their comments by the fact that a black player Richard Brown has played first team football at Ewood since Mr Walker took over.
And another, Marlon Broomes, has been on the substitutes' bench both this season and last.
Rovers have high hopes of young Broomes making the grade and he is currently on loan to Swindon to gain experience.
