A MAN was saved from a suicide attempt when his car was spotted in an old quarry on the moors behind Hapton Inn, Hapton.
A tube had been fitted to the exhaust.
Ambulance personnel and police went to the area and pulled the man from the vehicle.
The police helicopter was called in case he needed to be airlifted to hospital.
But as it hovered close by the man, who is in his thirties, began to recover and got to his feet.
He was taken to Burnley General Hospital.
Inspector John Grice said: "When I arrived he was in a semi-conscious condition receiving treatment from the ambulance crew.
"We were alerted by someone from a nearby farm and there is no doubt that the intervention of the emergency services saved his life.''
