RECENTLY, I had an operation and was in Queen's Park Hospital for five weeks. I cannot speak too highly of the care and attention I received from the nurses in Ward E1.
They work from 7.30am until 9pm, and do the same amount of hours on the night shift.
In his last budget, the Chancellor gave them a rise of just over three per cent. Very generous of him, I am sure.
He, the Prime Minister and a few more politicians should visit these hospitals, not just to shake hands with the principal, but to stay and watch them work and see some of the dirty jobs they do.
When I think of the rise the government granted themselves, it just makes me disgusted.
