BLACKBURN Council has been the target for quite a number of brickbats in the Lancashire Evening Telegraph recently, particularly from motorists.
May I, therefore, offer a bouquet - as a pedestrian?
Living on an estate adjoining the northern section of Montague Street, along with most pedestrians, I have found the crossing of this street becoming more and more hazardous with the inevitable increase in traffic and, unfortunately for us, increased speed.
However, following the recent innovations and creation of refuges in Montague Street, we can now cross with much greater confidence and security.
So may I, on behalf of my fellow pedestrians, say thank you to our council for listening and taking action.
I also think the Boulevard is a great improvement, apart from the bus stops close to the traffic lights.
W THOMASSON (Mr), Melville Drive, Blackburn.
