YOUR article 'Fury over away day booze ban' (LET, February 27), referred to Blackburn supporters' coaches being late for the game at Sheffield Wednesday.
While that is broadly true, as three coaches did arrive late for the game, your article did not illuminate the fact that only one coach was from the official supporters' association and that the reason for the late arrival was due to a problem with the driver's hours and not the consumption of alcohol.
The official away travel club has always and will continue to conduct its service in accordance with laid-down laws and regulations, one of which is a complete ban on alcohol.
I would also stress that the official association has an excellent relationship with both the police and regulatory authorities.
Other groups travel independently to away matches and I can make no comment on their conduct. The official supporters' association has, however, a good reputation for the quality of its support to the club and for the image of Blackburn Rovers.
ANTHONY J CARTER, (Press Officer, Blackburn Rovers Supporters Association), Curven Edge, Helmshore.
