THE DOME at Morecambe will be transformed into a 'New Age' Mecca in April as experts from across the country attend a conference to discuss ways to help the ailing planet.

An eminent parapsychologist, a pioneering environmentalist and an expert on the healing powers of dolphins will be just some of the guest speakers at the weekend conference and music festival on April 5.

Organised by the locally-based Planetary Aid Network, the aim of the conference is to share information with the 'silent majority' who are concerned about the planet's welfare.

Explained conference organiser, Roger Hill: "Ordinary people often feel frustrated and impotent by their apparent inability to change things but by attending the conference they can find out how to make a difference."

"All the speakers are experts in their field and the event has attracted the interest of people from across the county."

Dr Serena Roney-Dougal, author of the best-selling book 'Where Science and Magic Meet,' will be speaking about new age spirituality, Dr Horace Dobbs, who has scientifically demonstrated the healing benefits of close contact with dolphins, will be talking about his pioneering work and David Stephens, from the Gaia Solar eco-village in mid Wales will discuss direct democracy and practical earth rescue techniques.

Other speakers include Olivea Dewhurst-Maddox, a Sadler's Wells opera singer who teaches the healing power of the voice, Michael Roll, founder of the Campaign for Philosophical Freedom who will talk on life after death and internationally renowned spiritualist mediums, Jill Harland and Janet Parker.

Added Roger: "We are a non-profit making, non-political, non-denominational organisation which aims to provide a platform for the expression of ideas and information. By networking together we can explore ways in which we can do more to help the planet."

During the evening the Dome will also play host to a music festival featuring internationally renowned singer and harpist, Annie Mawson, Afro-rock band No Do Do and local blues favourites The Hustle.

Tickets for the weekend conference and music festival are £20 and for more details call Roger on Lancaster 382373.
