SEASIDERS fan Terence Westhead is getting the chance to don the first team strip this April for one of the sporting events of the season.

But the 33-year-old British Aerospace worker will be pounding the London streets rather than the Bloomfield turf.

Terence is running this year's London Marathon for Blackpool Football Club and Victoria Hospital's MRI Scanner Appeal.

He's no stranger to the gruelling event having run six marathons, including two London ones already.

Terence, who has been a Seasiders supporter all his life, said: "I was reading one of the match programmes and saw an article looking for someone to run the marathon for the club.

"I wrote to them describing my experience and then forgot all about it so it was a complete surprise when I got a letter saying I'd been chosen.

"My family and friends have been very supportive although they think I'm completely mad."

Terence has been training since October and has been running about 50 miles a week, although he says he's going to slow it down now as the run approaches.

He adds: "I've had a few injury scares already but nothing serious. The main purpose of the football challenge is to raise as much money as possible for charity, in this case the Victoria Hospital MRI Scanner."

Geoff Warburton, commercial director of the club, said: "We hope Terence enjoys himself at the same time as supporting the club and promoting our image."

Terence will be introduced to the crowds and presented with his running strip at Bloomfield Road on Saturday, March 22, when Blackpool play Bristol City.

Anyone wanting to sponsor Terence can contact him on 697320.
