TRANSPORT bosses are forging ahead with their plans for better bus links in Leigh.
Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Authority have released £300,000 to continue the development of Leigh's busway transit proposals.
The scheme will provide special bus lanes and give buses priority at traffic signals to reduce journey times and remove buses from the general flow of traffic.
And the authority are making grants available to Greater Manchester Buses North to hep them buy five low-floor vehicles for Route 26 linking Leigh with Manchester.
The buses do not have steps and are easier to use for people in wheelchairs and parents with prams.
Atherton councillor Joe Clarke, chairman of the authority, said: "Bus passengers will enjoy real benefits as a result of these propjects and I am delighted that the authority has been able to contribute to them."
