A CLOTHES shop to help hard-up families on a local housing estate has opened its doors and is appealing for much needed donations.
Sudellside Community shop opened up for the first time last week after co-ordinator June Maynard realised something had to be done to help needy families.
She said: "There are a lot of families on low incomes or no incomes at all on this estate and this is a way of helping them buy clothes at a very cheap price.
"So far we have had a very good response from residents and donations for the shop would be very much appreciated."
The shop is based at Sudellside Community Centre, Darwen and is open Monday and Friday between 10am-noon. Anyone who would like to make a donation should contact Mrs Maynard on 01254 762242.
