SACKED lecturer Pat Walsh has been boosted by the news that he is to remain branch secretary for union NATFHE.

The history lecturer is preparing to take his former Accrington and Rossendale College bosses to an industrial tribunal, claiming unfair dismissal.

His one-man fight was strengthened when he was maintained as NATFHE branch secretary.

But as he can no longer enter college grounds lecturer Greg Siddle, who is based at the Sandy Lane site, will assist him.

The decision to keep Mr Walsh as secretary comes after lecturers at the college called off a strike in support of Mr Walsh and NATFHE branch chairman Don Craig's resignation.

As the union waits for a date for Mr Walsh's tribunal, they are hoping to agree and define redundancy procedure with college management.
