IN RESPONSE to the letter about Blackburn Council's new tenancy agreements (March 6), no one in the past has been evicted from their home without a great deal of discussion between the tenant and the council.

Tenants have always been given the opportunity to mend their ways and comply with the tenancy agreement.

If they chose not to do so then they deserve to be evicted.

Regarding being responsible for visitors behaviour, I do not see the difficulty because they usually come by invitation.

If their behaviour is unacceptable it is up to the tenant to ask them not to call again.

Presumably your correspondent only has visitors who are made welcome otherwise they would be unlikely to return.

It is a sad fact that a very small minority of tenants actively encourage and welcome trouble makers to their homes perhaps as a perverted way of getting back at the neighbours and the council. It is these tenants who should be evicted much more speedily than in the past.
