THE Alliance side at Leigh MR reached the Alliance Cup semi-final with a 23-14 win against Pilkington Recs.
They began well, Neil McColloch cutting through 70 metres for the opening TD before Howard Newton and Ian Sanderson swept in, Jason Seddon adding the goals .
The St Helens side battled back, but props Terry Sutton and Peter McGuiness steadied a rocking boat and Steve Collier booted a big drop.
At 17-14 the game was in the balance, but skipper Newton provided the perfect sting, blasting 30 metres for his second try, again goaled by Seddon.
