LEE for Leigh was the spark in a thumping Rugby Union 25-5 win against Sandbach.
But a scrappy encounter provided Hand Lane spectators with few thrills.
Chris Lee, linking from full-back, provided most of them, showing quick heels and quick hands.
Leigh began well when centre Mark Hudspith cut through to score in the corner. He then banged over a penalty before the visitors edged back from a quick tap.
The second period belonged to Leigh, first containing the Sandbach revival, then forging clear with tries for Hudspith, Lee and Ross Bullough, Hudspith converting one.
Leigh Tofts won 28-0 at Chorley Vets, dominating from the first whistle and bouncing clear with tries for Dave Hunter, Parkinson, Smith and Morrison with Porteous converting all four.
