RADCLIFFE film director Danny Boyle has scooped a major award for his controversial film, "Trainspotting".
Danny, whose father still lives in the town, was named Best British Director in the Empire Awards last week, voted for by readers of the nation's leading film magazine.
"Trainspotting", the critically-acclaimed and commercially successful story of a group of Edinburgh junkies, also scooped awards for best British film, best actor for Ewan McGregor and best debut for actor Ewen Bremner.
The film was based on the best-selling novel by Irvine Welsh, and also won the award for best soundtrack at the Brit awards last month.
