WHEN Kevin Clough won a Child of Achievement award, his parents were proud - but he didn't know what all the fuss was about.
Kevin, 16, of Parkstone Avenue, Thorton, devotes much of his spare time caring for muscular dystrophy sufferer Kevin Mooney, but he simply considers it to be spending time with a friend.
The kind-hearted teenager is on hand to make sure Kevin, also 16, gets out and about and accompanies him to see his favourite football team, Blackburn Rovers.
He has also raised money to provide a wheelchair for Kevin whose parents were so impressed with Kevin Clough's care and consideration they nominated him for the award.
Kevin's father Paul Mooney said: "Kevin comes down every weekend. They are both season ticket holders at Blackburn Rovers and Kevin is always taking our Kevin out."
Kevin received his award at a glittering ceremony in London attended by celebrities such as Gaby Roslin and Mr Motivator.
John Major presented him with the award which every year is given to 150 young people who help others or have overcome an illness or disability.
Kevin's mum, Gwen Clough, said: "We are over the moon, but Kevin doesn't think he is doing anything special.
"He regularly takes his friend on the train to watch Blackburn Rovers."
Award-winning Kevin said: "I was surprised and flattered in a way. I didn't think I was doing anything special."
