A GREEN business group has won a major award for its work with East Lancashire businesses.
The Groundwork Business Environment Association was presented with the Business Commitment to the Environment Award by Labour leader Tony Blair at a ceremony in London.
"Our work has been recognised alongside British Airways, Marks & Spencer, Tesco and other companies who have demonstrated an innovative approach to environmental action," said BEA director Michael Kinsella.
"Every member of the 10-strong BEA team and our 214 members deserve recognition for the award. As is often said by Oscar winners - we couldn't have done it without them!"
The BEA won its award for its work in improving the environmental performance of local companies and helping them become more efficient and save money.
The BCE awards were launched by Sir Peter Parker in 1975.
