MORE than 130 firefighters from towns all over Lancashire were unable to prevent a Burnley mill being gutted in a spectacular £2 million inferno. Three fire-fighters were injured by falling stonework as they battled to control the blaze which engulfed Clock Tower Mill.
At the height of the blaze fire crews were directing 16 jets at the flames shooting from the roof and the mill's windows. At one stage the front of the building collapsed.
