Doncaster Dragons 20pts Lancashire Lynx 24
AFTER their recent spell of success, Lancashire's league campaign faltered with an almost disastrous trip to Doncaster.
Over the Easter weekend the Lynx produced a stunning display of rugby league against top team Batley Bulldogs. But the team who appeared against the Dragons seemed to bear little resemblance to that which had shocked the Bulldogs at Deepdale.
In reality, coach Kevin Tamati had made only two changes to the squad, Daniel Jones made his debut on the bench and Mark Gleave was drafted in to replace the injured Carl Briscoe. The absence of the veteran prop was clearly evident and the Lynx missed his experience.
Just before half time, the Dragons were able to narrow the gap through a try by Gary Smith whose converted try reduced the Lynx's lead to eight points. After the break things did not improve for the Lynx.
The Lynx kept out the Dragons in the final minutes of the game and need to see a return to their earlier form when they take on York at Deepdale on Friday.
Lynx: Parsley, Waring, Moffatt, Finney, S Smith, Ruane, Kelly, Taylor, Walsh, Francis, Gee, Gleave, Solomon. Subs: Stewart, Jones, Westwood, L Smith.
