MY friends and I were quite horrified and outraged by two recent reports. The first (LET, March 17) concerned the attack on ex-miners at a memorial service at Burnley Cemetery and the second was about the behaviour and attitude of Asians at Blackburn Cemetery (LET, March 25).
In the case of juvenile thugs, it is time the law was altered.
Photographs and videos of them committing wilful acts of theft and vandalism, etc, should not be 'blacked out' as they were in your paper and recently on TV. When apprehended, their names should be published and they should then be suitably and effectively punished. As for the situation at Blackburn Cemetery, this is just another manifestation of how the local Asian community is determined to "do its own thing" and has no real intention of integrating with or being absorbed into local communities.
With behaviour such as this, it is small wonder that there is an ever-widening gulf between the different ethnic groups in this and other areas.
If necessary, and before it is too late, all groups must be made to conform to British laws and the British way of life - if it still exists.
R BRACEWELL (Mr), Ormerod Street, Worsthorne, Burnley.
