CANDIDATES fighting to represent Pendle have been given a "back to basics" message by a political rival.
Liberal Democrat Tony Greaves has attacked the full colour glossy leaflets being sent out by other parties during the general election campaign as a "waste of money" which "shows their profligate attitude to spending."
He said simple black and white or plain two colour leaflets such as the Lib Dems' Focus leaflets could contain just as much information but at less cost.
"Our campaigns are about content and policies rather than glitz and gloss," he added. "If we are getting these full-colour efforts from the other parties already what will it be like later on?"
He promised Pendle Liberals would not be following suit.
