AS part of this drive to restore morality to the public domain, The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr George Carey, today urged schools to teach more about marriage as the ideal form of family.
But the curriculum-crafters and teachers have hedged on from this - and with good reason.
For how do teachers praise the virtue of marriage and the traditional two-parent family, without making the many pupils from single-parent homes feel second-class?
It is a difficulty, we agree. Nevertheless, ways must be sought to overcome it - otherwise all children may be denied the ideal that is better for them and society to aspire to.
