CONTRARY to the ignorance of John Blunt (LET, March 26), public servants are subject to stress. They are sandwiched between the constraints of laws and regulations and the demands of an increasingly difficult public, trying to attempt the impossible and be fair.
And, as with many other walks of life, they also suffer frequent change and reorganisation, as is happening again at present, creating uncertainty and instability.
It is not long since a public employee was murdered while at work in Blackburn Town Hall, by someone who thought he was not getting his 'rights.' When was John Blunt, hiding behind a pen name, subject to such risk?
JOHN GRAHAM, Moorland Road, Blackburn.
