A TEACHER is aiming to keep alive the memory of her godmother by making a giant splash for charity.
Janette Ainsworth, 27, hopes to complete a five-mile swim to raise money for SuperScan.
She was spurred to take the plunge after the death from cancer of Ann Oldroyd.
Ann, a soroptimist and governor at Westholme School, Blackburn, was a keen supporter of the SuperScan appeal.
Janette, who lives in the Billinge area of Blackburn and works at Feniscowles Infant School, is limbering up for the swim with a strict fitness regime.
It will take place at the Westholme School swimming pool on April 19 and Janette is hoping to raise £1,000.
She said: "I will have to complete 400 lengths of the pool. I am training every day and I managed 250 lengths the other day."
Anybody wishing to sponsor Janette can ring her on 01254 51595.
