IT is absolutely outrageous that historical artefacts appertaining to the town's heritage are to be removed from Blackburn Museum to create more space for those of Asian origin (LET, March 31).
The military section was shifted out a few years ago to accommodate the south Asian subcontinent display.
Apparently, the new younger management are being manipulated by directors tainted with politically correct nonsense.
The former curators, Adrian Lewis and Mike Millward, with many years experience, have also disappeared. Perhaps they could not adapt to the new schemes of this wily regime.
The explanation for this odious diktat is: 'Blackburn is a multi-cultural society' and that 'they' want to obtain 'material relevant to the lives of people living in the borough.'
This means that numerous items stowed away and rarely seen will be even more unlikely to be displayed.
Any indigenous person, in any town, anywhere, concerned about their local heritage, would be equally offended and resentful of such politically correct manoeuvres.
