LETHAL goal ace Paul Barnes has Stockport County running scared.
Barnes commands Burnley's front line at Edgeley Park tomorrow with County still licking their wounds from the 5-2 defeat at Turf Moor when the Clarets marksman bagged all five goals.
"It is a day I will cherish for the rest of my life-an unforgettable experience," recalled Barnes.
"They were my first goals for Burnley and to score all five was out of this world.
"Those sort of games don't come along very often and it is a very special memory.
"I've got the match ball in pride of place at home and all the newspaper cuttings."
Barnes added: "I always used to do well against Stockport during my time with York and I remember going there and scoring a couple. Thankfully, that seems to have carried on with Burnley.
"It would be lovely to get one tomorrow. But I don't care who scores - as long as we win.
"There appears to be no love lost between the two clubs and it will be a red-hot atmosphere with thousands of our fans there."
The Burnley striker already has 24 League and cup goals under his belt this season - including three breathtaking hat-tricks. That is a first-rate yield for a striker who did not arrive at Turf Moor from Birmingham City until September.
"I'm pleased with my scoring record for Burnley and I'm really relishing my career at Turf Moor," added Barnes.
"I think we've still got a great chance of going up via the play-offs and tomorrow is perhaps our most important game of the season.
"There is a lot at stake for both clubs but I really do feel we are capable of going there and getting a big result.
"But whatever happens this season, promotion or not, everybody can see the tremendous progress at the club.
"There is a really solid foundation for the future with the emergence of youngsters like Chris Brass, Paul Weller, Andy Cooke and Paul Smith."
Burnley will give a late fitness test to goalkeeper Marlon Beresford. The Clarets goalkeeper has not trained all week due to a troublesome groin injury. "We will leave a decision as late as possible and give Marlon every opportunity to recover," confirmed manager Adrian Heath. Burnley choose from: Beresford, Parkinson, Vinnicombe, Eyres, Brass, Hoyland, Winstanley, Harrison, Weller, Cooke, Barnes, Thompson, Guinan, Little.
The Stockport County squad is: Jones, Connolly, Todd, Dinning, Flynn, Gannon, Cavaco, Cowans, Charlery, Armstrong, Cooper, Mutch, Durkan, Searle, Bennett.
The Turf Moor ticket office will remain open until late morning tomorrow for sale of terrace tickets for Stockport. The match is all-ticket for Burnley fans. Terrace: £8 adult, £4 conc. Fans are reminded that the game has a 1pm kick-off.
