PROFITS at the parent firm of engineers Bootham have soared.
The Bacup-based firm's Dowding & Mills parent company saw profits before tax increase by 26 per cent to £7.1 million in the last six months of 1996 on sales of £61 million.
"Investment has remained high with £3.6 million spent on buildings and equipment including expansion of Bootham Engineers," said chairman Jim Cole.
"Although January began quietly, volumes have since picked up, particularly in the UK.
"If this trend continues, results for the second half and for the full year will be ahead of last year."
