FUND-RAISER Heather Edwards is taking the plunge and planning to swim a mile a day for five days in a bid to raise cash to buy life-saving ambulance equipment.
Heather, 32, who suffers from an under-active thyroid gland, is trying to raise as much sponsorship as possible.
"I've covered a mile before but to do it five days running is going to be hard," said Heather, of Salterforth.
Her illness makes her tired very easily and she is often lethargic after any exercise. But she is determined to beat fatigue and complete her personal challenge to raise cash for Lancashire Ambulance Service.
Heather is also part way through Pendle Leisure Services' Channel Challenge where entrants complete 22 miles during as many visits to local pools as they want.
She is planning to undertake her mile-a-day between June 23-27 at West Craven pool, Barnoldswick.
Sponsor forms are due to be available from Friday from health centres at The Butts, Barnoldswick, Market Street, Colne, Arthur Street, Brierfield, and Leeds Road, Nelson.
