WAYS of saving the planet will be discussed at a national conference at Burnley College on Saturday week.

The conference, in which community groups and co-operatives will give practical advice, has been devised by Co-operative Retail Services, Lancashire Co-operative Development Agency and Burnley-based New Era Enterprises, with backing from the Challenge Fund.

One workshop will focus on an ambitious project by South West Burnley Community Enterprise Trust to build environmentally friendly low-energy business units using recycled materials.

Burnley Council last year won the Green Apple award for the most environmentally aware and active local authority in the country.

The conference is free and places can by booked on the 24-hour voicemail line 01706 891204 quoting reference number Burnley 2604.
