FIRE POWER has been sadly absent in far too many games this season for the Seasiders and this dour match brought little action from either side and a goal you could have been forgiven for missing.
A double substitution by manager Gary Megson saw Brabin and Ormerod replace Bonner and Darton after 64 minutes as Blackpool defended a free-kick awarded to Wycombe after Linighan's foul.
The Seasiders had no time to organise their defence, David Carroll took the free kick and Keith Scott rose to head the ball past Banks and into the bottom right-hand corner of the net.
The Seasiders were stunned, Wycombe were jubilant and Megson must have wondered what he had done wrong as he watched Scott - on loan from the Blackpool manager's former club Norwich - celebrate his strike.
Blackpool's closest chance came in the first half when Mellon received the ball from Ellis to hit a 25-yard right foot drive which on-loan Derby County goalkeeper Martin Taylor did well to tip over the bar.
More chances came in the second half when the wind was at the Seasiders' backs, but none were close enough, despite efforts in the first four minutes by Ellis, Mellon and Preece and shots by Bonner and Darton soon afterwards.
An equaliser looked to be on the cards after 67 minutes when Linighan's free kick was headed on by Brabin - only to end up on the top of the net, rather than in the back of it.
Blackpool face Division Two leaders Bury at Bloomfield Road on Saturday (April 12).
