THEY thought it was all over! - but not quite for some of the soccer stars of yesteryear who dug out their boots to raise cash for charity.
Veteran Preston North End players clashed with arch-rivals Blackpool in a 'friendly' game in aid of local charities such as St Catherine's Hospice and Tender Nursing Care.
Former North End great Alex Bruce and veteran tangerine Jeff Chandler played in the match on Sunday (April 6) at Bamber Bridge's Irongate ground - which Blackpool won 3-2.
Ricky Thomson, who played for North End in the late 70s, scored a brace for the losing team.
The event was part of the Mayor of South Ribble Betty Greenland's fund-raising effortswho presented the winners trophy to the victorious Blackpool team.
