RUNNING Reverend Ben Humphries is swapping the pulpit for pumps - to take part in the world's most famous race.
Ben is to revving-up take part in the gruelling London Marathon on Sunday (April 13) to raise money to provide clean water in the Third World.
The 40-year-old fitness fanatic regularly goes swimming, fell walking and cycling, said he was well prepared but was still looking for sponsorship.
Ben, of Higher Bank Road, Fulwood, said: "Some people think I'm completely bonkers but on the whole they are quite supportive. I see it as a personal challenge and it's also about raising money.
"I worked in East Africa for many years and I know just how important clean water is.
"Too many children still die from diseases brought about by polluted water," said the Church of England advisor.
Anyone who wants to sponsor the Rev Humphries can call him on 713044 or by ringing (0171) 928 8681 and asking for Appeals.
