KATE WARD has booked another place in the Nationals.
The 13-year-old swimmer with Tyldesley SC took gold in a cracking swim in the 200 freestyle, setting an event record with a PB at the fifth Central Lancashire Gala.
Firsts also went to Matthew Hampson (14-Year 400 freestyle), Khalid Jhugroo (PB in the 12-Year 100 breaststroke) and Maria Hampson (PB in the 11-Year 100 butterfly).
The 12-Year 100 breaststroke event had spectators on the edge of their seats, a tight final saw team mates Kelly Banner and Stephanie Thompson settings PBs for second and third.
Seconds also for Stuart Carlisle (13-Year 200 freestyle) and Samantha Thompson (10-Year 100 IM).
Fourteen-year-old Dominic Derbyshire and James Gendall, 12, took bronze in their respective breaststroke events.
Other finalists were Michelle Greensmith (fourth in the 10-Year 100 IM), Matthew Concannon (fifth in the 11-Year 100 butterfly) and sixths for Andrew Hurst (14-Year 400 freestyle), Stephen Riley (12-Year 100 breaststroke) and Liam Whalley (11-Year 100 butterfly).
Good performances from David Gendall, Mark Hurst and Christopher Tickle.
Tyldesley won a 1st round match in the Junior Jubilee, scoring 142 points; Stalybridge (136), Rochdale (93). Next news story
