SWIMMER Richard Hampson has been in hot form for Tyldesley SC.

The 16-year-old hit gold in the Lancashire Age Groups at Wigan, winning the 100 freestyle (PB, NQT), 200 freestyle, backstroke and butterfly (NQT) and individual medley.

He also took junior championship medals for all these events.

At 12-Year Khalid Jhugroo was third in the 100 breaststroke, butterfly, freestyle and 200 IM and was fourth in the 100 backstroke.

Final positions, too, for James Gendall (6th in the butterfly, freestyle and IM.

At 13-Year there were bronze medals for Kate Ward (100 freestyle) and Stuart Carlisle (100 backstroke) with Stuart also fourth in the 100 butterfly.

At 14-Year Matthew Hampson took bronze in the 200 IM.

The 12-Year girls also achieved success in various events. Kelly Banner was fourth in the 200 IM and second reserve in the 100 backstroke, Jessica Howarth was fourth in the 100 butterfly with Samantha Greensmith was sixth (PB) in the same event.

Matthew Concannon was fourth in the 100 breaststroke at 11-Year with Maria Hampson sixth in the 100 butterfly.

Simon Clare, 16, was fifth in the 100 freestyle.

Also giving good accounts of themselves were Dominic Derbyshire, Michelle Greensmith, Andrew and Mark Hurst, David Gendall, Jenny Sparkes, Stephanie and Samantha Thompson and Liam Whalley.

Kate Ward featured in the Welsh Nationals in Cardiff, taking third spots at 100 and 200 freestyle and fourths at 100 butterfly and 50 freestyle (PB).

Tyldesley won 64-43 at Bury & Elton in the Junior Swim League. Next news story
