See £3 million switch to bright future
VOLEX Powercords Managing Director Frank Kennedy retires on Friday after 32 years with the company.
Mr. Kennedy, 55, who was brought up in Leigh but lives now in Boothstown, started working with the firm when it was known as Ward and Goldstone, and after progressing through the ranks he took over the Butts Bridge operation in 1979 which then had 50 employees.
He went on to take command over building the business into today's market leader with around 1,000 employees in four sites.
Mr Kennedy said: I am looking forward to my retirement after all these years in such a stressful job. It is good for me to go now and it is good for the company to bring in a new person with a new style. I am looking forward to spending more time with my wife, Barbara, enjoying our hobby of rambling and long distance walking.
"I wish to thank all employees for their support, co-operation and commitment. Their hard work, loyalty and dedication has been very much appreciated by me." Next news story
