Rosslyn Park 25 Liverpool St Helens 7 JUST when LSH needed a massive effort to pull off a win which probably would have left them in Division Three, a poor display means the threat of relegation still looms darkly.
Park tried their best to provide the visitors with the ideal start by giving away numerous early penalties. But LSH's lethargy and choice of the wrong options meant they failed to capitalise.
Park had won a bruising and close encounter with Reading during the week, and their general ineptitude, apart from two good tries, gave LSH the opportunity to shine.
The Moss Lane side, however, without their guiding light, skipper Brian Wellens chose to play the ball wide, all the time, instead of varying their play.
Paul Brett scored their points with a converted try.
A home game against mid-week Wharfedale on Saturday must be won if LSH are to have any chance of staying up.
