POLICE are hunting a cowardly teenage robber who snatched a purse from an elderly woman in broad daylight.
The victim, who is in her 70s, was walking along Birchley Street in St Helens town centre at about 9.30am on Tuesday, April 1, when her young assailant struck from behind.
Despite putting up a struggle, the woman was unable to stop the teenager from snatching the purse - containing about £17 in cash - and running off with it.
The woman, who was left unhurt but very shaken by the incident, later described her attacker as white, 14 or 15 years of age, about 5ft tall and wearing an orange baseball cap.
