IN attacking the growing trend towards 'Traffic calming' on our roads (LET April 9), John Blunt has missed the point. Roads are for people - not just motorists.
Car/pedestrian accidents kill or injure more than 47,000 people every year in this country. How many times have we all been saddened to read in this newspaper about another child being run down?
Traffic engineers, far from being interfering busyboldies hell-bent on spoiling someone's fun, are simply trying to reduce this unnecessary carnage.
Yes, the roads are safer than they were and cars are better designed to protect drivers and passengers from injury. Unfortunately, evolution has not yet done the same for the human body.
