REGARDING the cut-back in funding for breast care advice (LET, April 3). As a recently-diagnosed breast cancer sufferer, I know how important it is for women to have the support of these nurses at a very difficult time.
There is little opportunity or time for detailed discussion when attending clinics. This is when the support of Margaret Robinson and her fellow advisers is invaluable.
For this is when a patient needs time to consider the various treatments available and I have to say that Margaret Robinson did a wonderful job guiding me through the options. This is a very important and worthwhile part of breast cancer treatment that patients surely need.
Perhaps one fewer 'grey suit' would pay for this service. After all, health care is about saving lives - not money.
