A BAREFOOT and tearful ten-year-old girl was rescued after climbing on to a 25ft high roof.
Lyndsey Maguire had been sliding down the sloping roof of a dance school in Malt Street, Accrington, with her best friend when she became stranded last night.
She had taken off her shoes and socks and thrown them down, thinking it would be easier to climb down, but got stuck.
Lyndsey, of nearby Westwood Street, said: "I wasn't as scared on the Big One at Blackpool as I was on that roof."
Two men climbed on to the roof to calm and reassure her, and the fire brigade were called. Firefighters put up a triple-extension ladder followed by a roof ladder to reach Lyndsey who was clutching a roof vent.
Leading firefighter Jed Richmond said: "Eventually, with coaxing, we were able to walk her down the ladder. She was very shaken and tearful. Hopefully she has learned her lesson."
A chastened Lyndsey, who goes to Peel Park Primary School, said: "I know it's nothing to be proud of. I won't be doing it again."
Her mum, Mrs Julie Fisher, said: "I'm very grateful to the fire brigade. They do a wonderful job.
"She was as white as a ghost and her eyes were beetroot-red from crying."
